Tracey & the Greys
Tracey’s passion for macropods began years ago, ignited by a chance encounter with an orphaned Joey. The little joey captured her heart, and since then, her home has become a sanctuary for injured, orphaned, and displaced kangaroos.
Her days are a whirlwind of activity: in addition to her day job, Tracey prepares formula, cleans enclosures, monitors the health of her charges, and rehabilitates injured animals. Her days and nights are spent hand-feeding joeys, ensuring they receive the nourishment they need to thrive. She also dedicates time to sewing joey pouches for herself and others, generously gifting these to carers to help reduce their costs.
The cost of caring for these animals is significant. Tracey’s annual food bill alone averages around $5,000—a substantial amount for specialised kangaroo formula and supplementary feeds.
Tracey’s dedication extends beyond her immediate care. She actively campaigns for the protection of kangaroo habitat, educating the local community about the importance of these gentle giants. Her infectious enthusiasm inspires others to join her cause.
Sponsoring Tracey’s work is an investment in the future of our wildlife. Her tireless efforts not only save individual animals but also contribute to the long-term conservation of these iconic Australian marsupials. By supporting Tracey, we ensure the next generation of Kangaroos will have a fighting chance—a chance to thrive in the wild, just as nature intended.
