Debie & her Joeys

Hi, I’m Debie, a passionate wildlife carer with a love for drumming and a deep affection for our incredible macropods. I specialise in caring for Agile Wallabies, as they are the most common species brought to me in my area.

My caring journey began in 2019, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of nurturing numerous joeys. These tiny creatures, often coming into my care at 400 to 600 grams , pink and velvety as can be, usually arrive orphaned after losing their mothers in car accidents.

I dedicate myself to providing them with the best possible care, nurturing them until they reach a healthy weight of around 4-5 kilograms. Watching them grow and thrive is an incredibly rewarding experience!

Once they’ve reached this milestone, they transition to another carer with a larger enclosure and a social group of joeys. This crucial step allows them to develop essential social skills and learn from other young wallabies before their eventual release back into the wild.

I launched Wild Love to foster a positive and informative environment for macropod conservation and care. Recognising the significant financial burden often faced by carers, and the need for readily available information for aspiring caregivers, this platform aims to bridge the gap.
